We need bigger chairs!!

Our house can be quite the zoo from time to time, especially since Marcy moved in with her dog, Sammie.   For whatever reason, as detailed in the photograph below, all of the animals are drawn to her whenever she tries to sit down and relax.  While Bing, the incredible "hugging" cat, curls up on her lap, Charlie Brown  takes over one arm rest and Mr. C, our old Tabby barn cat, lounges on the other.  Not to be outdone,    Sammie, who is six times bigger then any of the cats, feels he should be in the middle of Marcy's lap.  I mean, on top of her in the same chair with all 65 pounds of his Doberman/Shepherd body.  In the future we need to either get Marcy a bigger chair or smaller pets.  I'd sit down and let some of them sit on me, but if I did, then who would take the pictures? :-)

It's sad to lose a friend

Today will be both a bad day and a good day.  Our youngest cat, Jack Frost, a snowshoe siamese will have to go to the vet and be put to sleep.  He hasn't been acting good and our wonderful Veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Strickland ran lab tests on him recently which showed that he had something bad going on.  While not exact Dr. Strickland leans towards a lymphoma or kidney failure.  We had hoped he would have lived his life longer with us but in the past 24 hours his health has greatly declined.

While it's sad I look at the good.  Jack came into animal rescue about four years ago, sick, malnourished and looking at bleak chances he would survive.  Due to the efforts of wonderful people with Kansas City Siamese Rescue and Dr. Laura at Southport Animal Hospital, Jack survived. He went on to be a healthy, happy kitty living in a warm, safe and loving home among other kittens to play and sleep with. He never wanted for food to eat, clean water to drink or a lap to sleep on.

Apparently God has other plans for Jack.  Perhaps to be reborn this time as a healthy kitten from the start.  I think it very likely that somewhere a little girl waits patiently for a kitten she's asked for and little does she know one with little white paws is headed her way.

Crazy Cats

It's very normal for cats to suddenly begin galloping around the house at break neck speed, bouncing off furniture, climbing the drapes etc., and here's why.  It's actually a very natural way for them to burn off steam and you'll particularly see this in younger cats, say five years old or less.  However, I have some older cats, nearing 14 years of age who will still suddenly and with out notice go crazy in my house and begin speeding around the furniture like they have the devil chasing them.  Don't be alarmed if your cat suddenly begins doing this, unless they have a plastic Walmart sack caught around their tail in which case you want to chase them down and remove it before they destroy something.
