How crazy has the last week been? On Sunday March 20th we left the cold and gloom of Kansas City Missouri for our new home in the sunny Mojave desert in Arizona. We were quite the entourage heading down the highway. While I drove a 27 foot moving truck and towed our Honda Goldwing trike on a large trailer, Marcy and my step-daughter Jessie, followed in our Jeep. While the girls got the comfy drive, cruise control and satellite radio, they also got to ride with our furry family. Both dogs, Buddy and Sammie and the four cats also rode with them. I'm told that one of the cats found an all "cat" music channel on the radio and they sang and jammed all the way to Arizona.
Staying in the hotels along the way was also fun as we hauled a pile of suitcases, four cat carriers and two dogs on leashes to and from our cars. The cats loved it because they could roam the room and had a choice of sleeping with Jessie, our friend Max who helped drive out or Marcy and me.
We did hit a minor glitch as we hit western New Mexico. Apparently Flagstaff Arizona got hit with a snow storm and all of the roads were closed so we found ourselves grounded for a night while the snow cleared and the roads reopened.
I must say that the drive through the snow-covered mountains and hills of Flagstaff was beautiful and everyone got really excited as we traveled down into the desert since our new home in Lake Havasu, Arizona was just a couple of hours away.
Thankfully we arrived, tired but safe. As I sit here on our back patio writing this morning the sun is out, the temperature is wonderful, and the birds are singing. The pets love the new back yard, laying in the sun or chasing lizards.
All is well with Marcy and me as we become settled in Arizona.
Have a purrable day....
Nick
It all sounds so wonderful!
